Websites for restaurants and takeaways
People decide where to eat in about a minute, on a phone, often while they are hungry. They want four things: the menu, the prices, whether you are open, and a way to order or book. If any of those is missing, wrong or slow, they go to the next place in the list. Restaurant websites fail on these more than any other kind of site I check.
What goes wrong most often
- The menu is a PDF. It is slow to open, hard to read on a phone, and Google cannot read the dishes, so you do not turn up when someone searches for them.
- The menu is out of date. Old prices and dishes you stopped making two years ago. Customers notice, and it leads to awkward conversations at the till.
- Opening hours disagree. The website says one thing, Google says another, the delivery apps say a third. People believe the one that says you are shut.
- The order button goes nowhere. Broken links to ordering systems, or links that send people to a delivery app that takes a large commission when you have your own ordering.
- No phone number you can tap. On a phone, the number should ring you with one tap. Surprisingly often it is an image or plain text.
- Allergy information. Missing, hard to find, or contradicting what the menu says.
- Food photos that load slowly or look tired. Big photos straight off a camera make the page crawl on mobile data.
What the free check covers for a restaurant
Everything above, plus every button and form tested, the site checked on real phones, your Google Business Profile compared against the website, and the legal pages. You get a plain-English report with what each fault is likely costing you and how long it takes to fix. See a real one, from a two-branch restaurant, with the name taken out.
Then, if you want me to
I fix the faults for a fixed price (£185 or £340), or keep the site looked after for £45 a month. That covers menu and price changes whenever you send them, which is the thing most restaurants actually need.
I also make short food videos with AI for Instagram, TikTok and the screen in your window, built from photos you already have.
Start with the free check. Send your web address and you get a written report within two working days. Nothing to sign.
Questions people ask
Should my menu be a PDF?
Better not. A menu written as a normal web page loads faster, reads properly on a phone, and lets Google see your dishes. Keep a PDF as an extra for printing if you like.
Why does Google show different opening hours to my website?
Google takes hours from your Google Business Profile, not from your website. They are separate, so they drift apart. The check compares them and tells you which to change.
Do you build online ordering systems?
No. I check that your existing ordering links work and point to the right place, and fix them if they do not.
Do you only work with restaurants in South East London?
Most are in South East London, but the check is done online, so I can do it for a restaurant or takeaway anywhere in the UK.
